Me Writing Something…It’s About Sex.

For homework this past weekend I had to read a short story by Rebecca Walker “Lusting For Freedom”

It’s about how her sexual experiences and how liberated she was by said experiences, how powerful she felt, and how women should love their bodies and not feel shameful about sex & their bodies.

Cool Shit.

Today I had to answer questions in front of class about said story with two of my classmates about how we felt about the story and awkward shit happened. I worked with a dude and a girl, the dude seemed grossed out by the idea of sex. I know this because he said the story was “yucky.” Remember this is college…and this nigga said “yucky” as if he were a child being told to eat his vegetables. I asked him if he was a virgin…because I have no manners and I wanted to know. He replied “I get hella pussy,” which is code for no, or I had the opportunity but women are yucky, I’m gonna go with the latter.

The girl on the other hand was so uptight…which was weird because she struck me as one of those really smart/strong women who were comfortable with their sexuality. I couldn’t of been more wrong, she didn’t refer to sex as yucky but thought it was “wrong,” to have sex before marriage, which is cool but it weirds me out a little, but maybe thats me, the kid who’s sex talk was “Always use a rubber…unless you love her then you don’t have to.” Thanks dad.

So there we were 3 people, with 3 different views on sex & sexuality and of course it was a clusterfuck. I wasn’t embarrassed about being in front of class talking about sex. I love sex, I heard I was good at it (of course that could be women stroking my ego but nevertheless) but I was embarrassed for the people with me who were embarrassed about talking about sex, because they weren’t comfortable with their own bodies which was what the story was about.
